Joy Kraft Miles Introduces New Educational Project from The Valley Community Legal Foundation

Our firm president Joy Kraft Miles unveiled “The Constitution and Me,” a program aimed at providing constitutional education to high school students. The project was announced at the February 28th San Fernando Valley Bar Association's Annual Judges' Night Dinner, held at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills.

Kraft Miles, in addition to serving as the firm president of Kraft Miles, A Law Corporation, is a board member of the Valley Community Legal Foundation. The Valley Community Legal Foundation handles the charity work of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, such as “The Constitution and Me,” a program built by the VCLF’s education subcommittee. As a board member, Kraft Miles represented the VCLF at the Annual Judges' Night Dinner.

The focus of “The Constitution and Me” is “True Threats v. Pure Speech: Drawing the Line Between Safety and Freedom.” For three class sessions, participating students will discuss the Constitution with two attorneys and a bench officer. An essay contest will take place after the completion of “The Constitution and Me,” with a scholarship available for winning participants.

Kraft Miles, who co-instructed bench volunteers and taught “The Constitution and Me” lessons, is a former teacher who aims to inspire young adults interested in the legal field. She is passionate about providing scholarships and educational programs to share her legal knowledge with students.

The San Fernando Valley Bar Association's Annual Judges' Night Dinner is a yearly event held to recognize exceptional talent in practicing legal professionals throughout the San Fernando Valley. This year, the spotlight was on honoring Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David B. Gelfound and Judge Shirley K. Watkins. Judge Gelfound is the 2019 Judge of Year, and Judge Watkins received the Administration of Justice Award. Judge Kevin C. Brazile and Judge Eric C. Taylor were acknowledged at the dinner as well, receiving Special Recognition from the Bar’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee.

At Kraft Miles, A Law Corporation, our experienced San Fernando Valley divorce and estate planning attorneys represent clients throughout the Valley. With a focus on divorce, estate planning, and other family law areas, we strive to provide support to families through some of their most difficult times.
